NIRSA National Tournament Qualifier

Regionals update:
Current record: 8-1-4
NIRSA National Tournament Qualifier
The Wolverines went into the MASC Regional Tournament as a number one seed with a tough schedule ahead of them for the weekend. In their first match, the boys took B1G Ten rivals, Northwestern, to a 0-0 draw. Later that day, in what was a do or die game for Michigan, the Wolverines faced Miami of Ohio. After a tense 70 minutes full of chances, the boys took a 1-0 lead from a penalty kick converted by Marco Schwiebert. A vigilant set of Wolverine defenders and goalkeepers kept it locked down in the back as the boys pulled off a 1-0 win to advance to the regional semi finals.
The following day Michigan played another B1G Ten rival, Wisconsin. After taking a 1-0 lead through a Jacob Kunnath first half goal, the Wolverines ultimately fell to the Badgers 2-1.
Under the impression the boys were out of national contention, it looked as if the Wolverines season was over. However, due to a series of fortunate results, Michigan managed to qualify for the NIRSA National Tournament as an at-large wildcard bid do to a superb regular season.
The boys travel to Phoenix November 16-18.
Go Blue!

Final season update:
Final record on the season 7-0-3
MASC Central Division Champions.
The Wolverines finish the season undefeated for the third straight season and have qualified for the MASC Regional Tournament for the third consecutive time. In the final weekend of games of the season, the Wolverines took on Western Michigan and Ferris State.
For the final home game of the year, Western came to Ann Arbor for Senior Night. After dominating possession the Wolverines found a first half break through through a penalty kick drawn by freshman Nick Matton and converted by Marco Schwiebert. The game ultimately resulted in a 1-1 tie, eliminating Western from contention for a regional birth.
The following day the Wolverines headed to Big Rapids to take on Ferris State. In what was a chance filled day, the Wolverines posted a 1-0 shutout win from a Ty Gilhuly cross which was converted by Marco Schwiebert giving him his second goal in two games. The victory sealed the Wolverines regional birth and crowned them MASC Central Division!
This upcoming weekend the boys will head to Indianapolis for the regional tournament. Congratulations on a successful season thus far!
